Most nights a camping light has to fill a tent or a table with even light rather than throw a beam down the track. That is what the lanterns here are for. The storm lantern in blue, black or orange is made from ABS and stainless steel and recharges through a USB port. The rechargeable camping lantern has a built-in lithium battery and can also charge your phone. One compact light dims smoothly on a dial, so you can run it low while you eat and turn it up when you pack the car. Several camping lights in this range are really torches with a camp mode. For a dedicated pocket light, see our torch range.
Once you are a few nights from a wall socket, the way a light charges matters more than its brightness. The solar lantern comes in LED and COB versions with a panel built in. The heavy duty torch charges by cable or from its own panel, and the multi-purpose solar light takes sun or mains. Treat the panel as a top-up: charge from USB at home and let the sun keep it going during the day. If you need to charge phones as well, our torches and solar gear include folding panels and power banks.
A light that lives in a cupboard needs a backup plan, because internal batteries lose charge while they sit. That lantern also comes in a battery-powered version that runs on AA batteries, so you can swap in fresh cells instead of waiting on a charger. The wind up torch has a hand crank as well as solar charging, and a few minutes of winding gets you light again. Around a permanent camp or the backyard, the solar garden spotlight pushes into the ground on a spike and tilts to aim the beam. It comes as a single light or in packs of two or four.
A lantern lights the camp, but it will not follow you to the toilet block or under the bonnet. Pair it with one of our head torches for that. The lamp torch in yellow or orange also has red and SOS settings for the walk back.
