Torches & Solar

All our torches and solar gear in one place: pocket torches to camp lanterns, plus the panels and power banks that keep them charged away from a wall socket.

Torches and solar gear for camp and power cuts

This range of torches and solar gear covers two jobs: making light, and keeping it charged when there is no wall socket nearby. On the light side you have hand torches, head torches and camping lanterns. On the power side sit folding solar panels and solar power banks. Most of the hand torches have an aluminium alloy body and a beam that zooms from a wide flood to a tight spot, handy for scanning a paddock and then reading a map up close. If you only need something for the glovebox or a jacket pocket, start with our hand torches.

Which light for which job

A hand torch throws light forward, and it is the one to grab when something moves outside the tent. When you need both hands for pitching in the dark, cooking or changing a tyre on the roadside, look at our head torch range. Lanterns work the other way round. They spread light over a table or the inside of a tent instead of down the track, and a few of them can charge a phone from their own battery. One lamp torch comes in yellow or orange, which makes it easy to find in a dark tent.

Keeping everything charged

For the drawer at home, think about what happens when an internal battery goes flat after months of sitting there. One solar camping lantern comes in a version that runs on AA batteries, so you can swap cells when the storm hits. Its other versions charge by USB-C or from a built-in panel.

The portable solar panels have no battery of their own. You unfold them in the sun and plug a phone or torch straight into the USB port, so they suit clear days at a fixed camp. Some fold small enough for the mesh pocket of a rucksack, and one is made of technical fabric with metal eyelets for tying onto a pack. To store power during the day and use it at night, pick one of our solar power banks instead. Charge it from the wall before you leave and treat the sun as a top-up.
