A windbreaker is the thin outer layer you reach for when the wind is the problem, not the cold. It stops gusts cutting through your shirt on a coastal walk, then comes off in a minute once the sun is back. Pull one over a tee or a fleece from our hiking clothes and you have a light setup for most of the year.
The lightest pieces here are pure wind shells. The packable windbreaker is 100% polyester and folds into its own pocket, so it rides in a day pack without taking up room. The short sleeve style is polyester too, with raglan sleeves, a half-length front zip and a drawcord hem, in a loose cut made for sport. Around town, a wind shell sits lighter than one of our bomber jackets and packs away when you don't need it.
Read the listing before you count on a jacket in the wet. Several have a water-repellent finish that sheds drizzle and spray, and the lightweight style says plainly that it will not protect you in steady rain. For more cover, the women's jacket with a laminated membrane blocks wind and gusts, and the ladies style adds a breathable mesh lining that lets heat and sweat out on spring and autumn walks.
Fit changes from one style to the next. The mens windbreaker jacket has 5% elastane for a little stretch, mesh in the hood and upper back, and an all-over geometric camo print. Most styles run from S to 3XL. Black and blue turn up across much of the range, with grey, green, pink and red on several styles.
Some jackets in this collection go further than a wind shell. The fleece lined rain jacket has a dense brushed fleece lining and a fixed hood, and the women's 3 in 1 rain jacket pairs a polyester shell with a fleece lining you can take out. On still, freezing mornings the wind is only part of it, so look at the heated styles here, most of which run from a USB battery, or browse our full range of heated jacket styles.
