A heated jacket makes the most sense when you're out in the cold without moving much, like a pre-dawn start on site or a winter sideline. The heat comes from panels in the lining, mostly across the back and chest, and a button lets you change the level. On a cold walk, wear one over a base layer from our hiking clothes instead of piling on jumpers.
Vests make up a big part of the range and slip under a jacket you already wear, from a work jacket to one of our bomber jackets. The heated horse riding vest has a fitted cut made to sit under a riding jacket, and the motorcycle vest keeps a clean line with a V-neck, front zip and straight hem. With sleeves, the heated puffer jacket also warms the arms and wrists, while the heated jacket for men adds a hood and high collar over a brushed fleece lining.
The zone count tells you how much of your body gets direct heat. The USB vest keeps it simple with two zones on the back and chest. The heated work vest spreads eight zones over the back, chest and shoulders, and the heated puffer vest has nine, each controlled separately. On the polar fleece style, seven zones cover the neck, back and lower back. Several styles give you three heat levels from one button, and the electric heated jacket can also be set from a smartphone app.
Check how each piece is powered before you choose. The USB heated jacket takes a standard USB power bank through a port hidden in the lining, so the one already in your bag will do. Other listings show a battery option: the motorcycle vest with a 10,000mAh or 20,000mAh pack, the electric heated jacket with 2200 or 16000 mAh, and the women's heated winter jacket with or without a battery. On the motorcycle vest, the bigger pack roughly doubles the listed run time, which counts on a long shift.
Black is the main colour, with blue, red, green and grey on several styles, and most sizes run from S to 3XL. If you plan to wear yours under another jacket, check the chest size on the listing so both layers fit. On windy days, wear one of our windbreakers over the top.
