Most of the hiking socks in this range are built in three layers, with a PU or TPU membrane sealed between an outer knit and a softer inner, so your feet stay dry through puddles, wet grass and mud. The catch is the cuff. Water that comes in over the top stays in the sock, so choose a height that clears what you expect to walk through, from crew to calf-high to knee high. Wear them under our military boots on a wet day in the bush.
Sweat is the other half of the problem. On several pairs the membrane lets water vapour out, so moisture doesn't build up inside the shoe on a long climb. The lightweight hiking socks weigh roughly 100 g per pair and add no bulk, and the crew pairs have no seam at the toe box and a reinforced heel to cut rubbing on long days. Paired with a mesh pair from our hiking shoes, they handle shallow creek crossings, as long as the water stays below the cuff.
For cold, wet days, the thermal socks pair the membrane with an insulating inner layer and a windproof build. The military-style pair has a cotton lining that holds body heat against the skin. The bamboo hiking socks keep bamboo fibre against your foot, with the TPU membrane in the middle layer. If you just want something warm around camp at night, the black wool socks are a soft pair with a ribbed cuff, and they stretch to fit sizes 39 to 44.
Not every walk calls for a membrane. The camouflage socks are 80% cotton with polyester and spandex for daily wear, and the cotton crew socks come in black or white. Membrane pairs are sized in shoe-size brackets from XS to XL, and the youth hiking socks have their own smaller sizes. Try new footwear on with the socks you plan to walk in, then match them to our hiking boots for longer trips.
