A travel hammock is the bit of kit that turns a stop into a rest. It packs into a corner of the bag, goes up between two trees in seconds and doubles as a spare bed at home when people stay over. Out on a trip it is where you sleep, off the wet ground and out of the mud.
Practical is one thing, sleeping properly is another. Slung between two anchors it takes your weight along your whole body instead of pressing on hips and shoulders, so you get a real night of sleep wherever you happen to be.
A tent takes practice, poles and a dry patch of ground. A hammock takes seconds. Find two solid supports, run the cords, tension it and get in.
